Mastering Personal Goals is the True Indicator of Success
Any millionaire or billionaire will tell you that money is not a measurement of success. I know that’s easy to say to someone who might be struggling to pay bills or to save $5,000 for their child’s tuition. But, you must not be fooled by the idea that quick money is going to make you happy.
Ask yourself, “What is my goal?” What do you hope to accomplish by investing in my programs? In order to be successful my friend, planning your goals is the first step. It’s a mistake not to. It’s like searching for gold with goggles on: You don’t know where you’re going, you feeling for things in the dirt that may look profitable, but dang only if you could see a little bit clearer.
Planning goals is a way of talking to yourself and directing yourself to follow a specific journey. It allows you to imagine and fantasize opportunities that were not thought of before. It even takes you a step further. Do you know what self-efficacy is? Self-efficacy was a term coined by a famous psychologist named Bandura. It is defined as people's beliefs about their capabilities and how these beliefs affect the outcome of their efforts. Put simply, “if you believe you can, you will. If you don’t believe you can, you won’t.” Self-efficacy beliefs determine how people feel, think, motivate themselves and behave.
Imagine you can affect your outcome just by your thoughts. People with high efficacy see difficult tasks as challenges to be mastered rather than as threats to be avoided. They work on setting goals, accomplishing goals, and being committed to these goals. Even in the face of failure, they remain just as dedicated. They quickly recover after failures or setbacks. They are not threatened by slow progress or lack of knowledge.
On the otherhand, people with low efficacy doubt their capabilities and shy away from difficult tasks, which they view as personal threats. They have low aspirations and weak commitment to goals. When faced with challenges, they dwell on obstacles and focus on how they won’t be successful. It does not require much failure for them to lose faith and fall prey to stress and depression.
Set goals daily in various areas of your life… don’t just stop at financial. Next, imagine yourself being successful at that goal. Then, get the education or knowledge needed to be successful at that goal. Repeat this process on a regular basis until you meet your own standard of success. However, don't stop there. Life is not static. Stretch your personal goal setting and ideas of success. Get out of your comfort zone and set new and challenging goals continuously. This is the beginning of Success Training.
